55 kids rescued from traffickers

Till November this year, in all 55 children have been rescued from traffickers in Manipur, according to information received from the documentation unit of Women Action for Development.
A report compiled by the documentation unit of WAD said that in February this year, 39 trafficked children were rescued from Gurgaon, Mayang Imphal and Maharashtra.
All these children have been taken from their respective parents on the assurance of providing better education but were found being used them for performing household works.
In April, one young boy was rescued from a hotel at Chingarel Tejpur.
He had been kidnapped by two persons namely Indramani and Bina and sold him off at the hotel to work as helper.
In May, two girls were rescued from the hands of Zomi Mothers' Association while being taken outside the state on the assurance of providing them with better education prospect.
In June, a young boy was rescued from the hands of one Moirangthem Deben of Ithing Heikol who was planning to take the boy to Tamil Nadu.
Moreover, in September, eight young boys were rescued from being taken to Kerala by two persons, namely Sahib Ahmed (25) and Rahish Khan (23) of Khabeisoi Sabal Leikai on the assurance of giving free education at an Islamic institution, the report added.
