Imphal, August 27 2013:
Drawing the attention of his Parliamentary colleagues, more specifically the Ministries of Home, External Affairs and Defence to what he described as "some stunning reports about Myanmarese military intrusion in the North East region", Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency MP Dr Thokchom Meinya today suggested that all necessary actions - diplomatic, military and otherwise be taken up at the earliest possible on the issue.
Highlighting reports about Myanmarese intrusion taking place at Holenphai village, located 3 kms south of Moreh police station close to international border pillar number 76 in Chandel district of Manipur, Dr Meinya expressed "It is high time to seriously look into such report and find out whether it is correct or not.
If this is right all kinds of necessary actions be initiated at the earliest" .
"As a matter of fact we have been neglecting North Eastern borders for so long and if it continues the local population shall be alienated further.
Such reported military intrusion/incursion compelled the local people feel that they are left without defense and protection.
Such a feeling is highly injurious to our national unity and integrity.
Therefore I urge upon the Union Government to act fast and ensure that no such intrusion takes place in future," the MP maintained.
