Imphal, December 26 2014 : Taking forward the initiative of Clean India Campaign, 6 DOGRA of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) in its endeavour to connect the most interior region of Manipur with the mainstream of India organised Swachh Bharat Mission on Christmas Day at Maltuk and adjoining villages.

The villagers cleaned their villages and planted saplings of different trees.

The initiative created awareness and involvement of local populace in forest conservation and afforestation, said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .

Waste pits were dug to enable proper disposal of waste material and garbage at one place.

Officers and Jawans of the Battalion also participated in the Christmas celebration organised in these villages.

Officiating Commanding Officer of the Battalion emphasised on the importance of cleanliness and requested the people to come forward and make India as one of the world's cleanest countries.

On the auspicious occasion of Christmas, people pledged that they would do their best to make this campaign a success.
