MPCC condoles

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee has deeply condoled the demise of veteran Congress leader Ahmed Patel MP (Rajya Sabha) and treasurer of All India Congress Committee.
In a condolence meeting chaired by the MPCC president Moirangthem Okendro held at Congress Bhavan BT Road Imphal at 3 pm yesterday, CLP leader Okram Ibobi Singh stated, 'It is a great loss for us that someone irreplaceable like him has gone too soon.
Many a time, he was elected to Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha but he was always noble and simple.
Because of his simplicity, he not only earned respect from his party but also from other political parties".
The condolence meeting was also attended by CWC member Gaikhangam, MLAs K Ranjit Singh, AK Mirabai Devi, office bearers and other working members of the MPCC.
Ahmed Patel who was born on August 21, 1949 at Bharuch in Gujarat represented the State for 8 terms in Parliaments times in the Lok Sabha (1977-1989) and 5 times in the Rajya Sabha (1993-2020) .
He was also the treasurer of AICC (2018-2020).He was a political secretary to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
He passed away due to multiple organ failure, more than a month after he tested positive for COVID-19 .
He was 71 .
A two-minute silence was observed during the meeting.
The party's flag will fly at half-mast flag for three consecutive days.
