Farmers desirous of enjoying old age pension under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana (PMKMDY) which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 1 can now register themselves for the scheme at common service centres.
Farmers aged between 18 and 40 years can now get themselves registered online for PMKMDY at CSCs by producing pattas of their landholdings after paying Rs 30 each, informed a source.
Meanwhile Agriculture Department has taken up necessary measures to make the scheme a success in the State.
Farmers who have been registered for the scheme would get pension after reaching 60 years of age.
To implement the scheme in the State, Agriculture Commissioner M Joy chaired a meeting yesterday.
During the meeting which was attended by top ranking officials of Agriculture Department and District Agriculture Officers, M Joy instructed the officials to take up all necessary measures so that the scheme can be implemented successfully.
On the other hand, M Joy who is also the MAHUD Commissioner chaired another meeting with executive officers of urban local bodies regarding 'Fit India Movement' which would be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 29.In tandem with the launch of Fit India Movement, 'fitness pledge' would be sworn at public places covered by urban local bodies on the same day, said the source.
