Tight security put in place ahead of R-Day

Imphal, January 25 2018:
Imphal East and Imphal West district police, further intensified security measures ahead of the Republic Day celebration in the State capital and deployed large number of security personnel to prevent any kind of untoward incidents from happening during the celebration.
Cordon and house to house search were conducted at various parts of Imphal East and Imphal West today morning.
Later in the evening, the district police conducted intensified frisking and checking at all the major roads leading to Imphal.
Imphal West district police conducted house to house search operation at Old Lambulane and Jail road area.
During the operation, more than 100 houses were searched and the police verified more than 400 individuals.

One person was detained by the police team for failing to produce proper ID proof and was later handed over to Imphal police station for further verification.
Similarly, Imphal East district police along with women police personnel of the district, conducted cordon and search operation at Chassad Avenue, Nongpok Ingkhol and Dimdailong, under Porompat PS.
During the search operation, the police team verified more than 500 individuals (including 150 females).
No one was detained during the operation.
Frisking and checking of all vehicles along the major roads leading to Imphal City were intensified, with the deployment of extra Manipur Rifles and IRB personnel (above the police personnel of Imphal East and West district) at various junctions today evening.
All types of vehicles coming towards Imphal were thoroughly checked by the police team.
Large number of police personnel were also seen deployed along the road where the Republic Day parade is going to be held and along the river banks of Imphal and Nambul river as well.
