22nd Imphal Book Fair concludes

Imphal, December 24, 2013:
The 22nd Imphal Book Fair organized by State Central Library, Department of Art and Culture which has been going on since December 15 concluded at Hapta Kangjeibung here today.
The valedictory function was attended by MLA of Uripok A/C Laishram Nandakumar as Chief Guest; Sapam Bheigya Singh, Joint Director of Art and Culture as President and MLA of Langthabal A/C Karam Shyam Singh as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Nandakumar expressed concern over lack of development in libraries even though library movement in the State was started prior to 2nd World War.
He also admitted that there have been lapses and intervention from the side of the MLAs and government towards ensuring growth of library in the State.
MLA pointed out that it will be not enough to boost library movement only by organizing mela and fair but school and college students should also be inculcate the habit of reading for the development of library movement.
K Shyam noted that people should not miss such book fair as large number of useful books which are not find easily in market are availed and informed that there is every likelihood of the Manipur Public Library Act being passed soon.
He said the Act will be helpful in strengthening the library movement in the State.
