All Manipur Driver's Welfare Association appeals to repair Imphal-Jiri road

All Manipur Driver's Welfare Association (MADWA) has appealed the Government to repair the 220 Km Imphal to Jiri road.
MADWA said the drivers are risking their lives just to ferry on this road due to the deteriorating condition.
A team of MADWA led by its general secretary Kshetrimayum Sanjoy inspected the condition of the road from Imphal to Jiri on September 23.During the inspection, it was found that the road does not suit the present era at all.
The road is more like a drain.
It is very risky to drive on this road, MADWA said in a release.
The driver are for the service of the people.
Even after risking their lives by driving on this road, drivers are frequently harassed by asking money from them, MADWA said.
MADWA appealed the State Government to repair the road which is a lifeline of the State at the earliest.
Considering the condition of the bridges along the road MADWA also urged the Government to check the weight of the trucks before ferrying them by issuing a 'weight bridge slip'.
