Armed VDF to guard Kekrupat

Imphal, May 24 2012: Sixteen armed personnel of VDF are to be posted on duty to safeguard Kekrupat, where the mortal remains of 18 martyrs who laid down their lives for protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur, have been laid to rest.

According to information received from Kangla Fort Board, barracks will be constructed for the VDF personnel very soon.

Earlier, there were three VDF personnel on duty to safeguard the area.

But they were often robbed and beaten by nearby people.

As such the place could not be properly protected.

But now, since there will be 16 armed VDF personnel on guard, the place will be properly taken care of and no unwanted incidents is likely to occur inside the complex, the source added.
