TMPNADO urges relief compensation for drought affected farmers

In view of the State Government declaration of Manipur as a drought hit State, Thoubal Multi-Purpose Project Neglected Area Agricultural Development Organisation (TMPNADO) has demanded relief compensation for farmers of Lamlai area who have been actually affected by the drought and to distribute 15 kg of PDS rice to each person of every household.
TMPNADO has warned to launch stringent agitations if the State Government fails to turn the agreement between Chief Minister and TMPNADO into action at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, TMPNADO general secretary Telem Dara said that TMPNADO and people of Lamlai area organised a meeting on October 20 at Chalou community hall, Lamlai keithel where numerous resolutions were unanimously adopted.
It resolved to complete the list of drought affected farmers of each and every villages of Lamlai area as member organisations of TMPNADO along with their area of cultivated land with Patta and Dag numbers duly authenticated by village authorities, Pradhan and members concerned on or before November 10 to the office of TMPNADO.
It also resolved to demand the State Government to enhance the present ration quota of rice at 15 kg per month per member of the drought affected family and to demand payment relief compensation for the losses at Rs 5000 per Sangam to the actual tiller without any condition.
The meeting further decided that landlords must not demand rent for the drought affected fields and not to deprive the tenancy right of the farmers.
It resolved to launch intense agitations if no actions are taken up at the earliest following the survey report, submitted by the committee constituted by the Govt under the chairmanship of Chief Engineer H Brajendra with TMPNADO officials on September 2,3 and 4.The meeting also decided that the defunct Government offices of Lamlai area i.e.Sawombung SDO, BDO, SDC, ICDS, Sawombung district library, Sub Reg, Kabui, Veterinary office at Yourabung Khunou, FCS godown at Lamlai, MI office at Napet, district hospital (CMC) of Nongada and agri office at Lamlai should be made operational immediately.
