Imphal, October 23 2012:
Proscribed armed group, People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) has reiterated its firm belief on the principles of United Nations Organisation (UNO) saying that the world would be peaceful and prosperous if the goals of UN were achieved.
In a statement, Leibaknganba Luwang, Assistant Secretary of Publicity and Propaganda of the outfit, called upon the people of Kangleipak to join the world community in shaping the direction of UN from being mislead by the United States.
The statement observed that since the end of cold war, US has become the most influential member in UN and it is on this count that the process of decolonization has slowed down.
What is needed now is to fight collectively for restoration of freedom under the objective of Right to Self determination of UN by organizing mass movement.
The PREPAK statement also highlighted the historical background about the origin of UN and said that 8-point principles of the Atlantic Charter drafted on August 14, 1941 under the initiative of United States and United Kingdom during World War 2 became the first Charter of UN.
In the sitting of January 1, 1942, the allied forces and representatives of 26 like-minded countries resolved to jointly fight against the axis force and it became the first journey towards formation of United Nations.
The United Nations conference held from April 25 to June 26 in 1945 at San Francisco by the representatives of 50 countries constituted a UN charter.
The charter was drafted by a meeting of representatives of China, Soviet Union, United Kingdom and United States held at Dumbarton Oaks of United states from August 21 to September 28, 1944 and the same was proposed in the UN conference as prologue.
The charter was unanimously accepted and signed by all the representatives of the 50 countries on June 26, 1945.Subsequently, on October 24, 1948, the United Nations General Assembly declared October 24 as United Nations Day.
Since then, the day has become significant for all the communities in the world.
The PREPAK statement further noted that one of the remarkable resolutions adopted by the United Nations is the resolution for observing December 10 as "International Human Rights Day" (resolution no.423(V)) and also the resolution for Declaration on granting of Independence to Colonialised Countries and Peoples (resolution no.1514(XV) .
Justifying the armed struggle, PREPAK contended that Article 2(4), 1(2) and Article 55 had clearly mentioned that any armed movement for restoration of lost freedom should not be suppressed by any UN member country.
On the matter of Right to self determination, the PREPAK pointed out that India had signed the resolution for Right to self determination in 1979.However, it kept the resolution reserved for application in other countries only.
