Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest J Ganta said that BSNL was initially started as a public service department like any other government departments.
Years back customers have to wait for about 6 to 7 years for a single landline connection.
But now as a result of the implementation of the first Telecom policy in the year 1994 customers are given ample opportunities in all aspects.
Lots of innovations have now come up in telecommunication in the last 10 to 15 years.
With this CSC opened in Canchipur altogether four CSCs has been opened so far.
The first rural CSC has opened only two days back in Thoubal.
The other three CSCs in Imphal city are at Babupara, Lamphel, and Sangaiprou, he said.
He further went on to say that wireless technology has been provided at five different places of the state.
Satellite services will be reaching Moreh, border town of the state in a weeks time.
The same has already been provided in Molnom, Halang and Chingjaroi Khullen.
Apart from this 3G service will also be made available to its customers in Tamenglong and Chandel districts very shortly.
There is further plan to open a Urban based CSC in Imphal city at Khuman Lampak and another four Rural based CSCs at Churchandpur, Senapati, Ukhrul and Moreh in this financial year so as to make the services available in all areas of the city and also in rural district head quarters to help its customers, he said.
He further said that the very idea of opening the CSCs in different parts of the city is to reduce the heavy rush in the Babupara CSC specifically during the Pay-by-date period and also help the customer to go to their nearest CSC reducing the road journey distance, reduce waiting time in CSC and also to curtail their expenditure on petrol.
