MP Leishemba Sanajaoba urges Meitei Pangal community to preserve their identity

Imphal, December 22 2021:
Rajya MP and titular king of the State, Leishemba Sanajaoba has urged against the dropping of surnames, which was once conferred by the Manipuri king to preserve the identity of the Meitei Pangal community.
The above statement was made by the MP during a foundation stone laying ceremony for Kutub Khana (Islamic Library) at Keirao Litan Makhong today.
He commented on the similarities between Meitei Pangals and Meiteis in terms of language, lifestyle etc and stated that Meitei Pangals are the offspring of Meitei women.
The Rajya Sabha MP made an appeal to the Meitei Pangal community to not drop their surnames in the interest of their posterity.
He also vowed to lend his support in ensuring that the Kutub Khana will emerge as a renowned establishment across the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Lourembam Rameshwar Meetei, Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, stated that a football ground fitted with artificial turf as well as a memorial park in memory of Tolen Kaji will be set up soon.
Further, MLA L Rameshwar also assured the people that a badminton court and a community hall will be constructed at Kiyamgei Muslim.
The MLA spoke against communal politics and called for politics that leads to development , peace and harmony.
If elected as the people's representative of Keirao AC, he revealed that he had plans to dedicate a Jama Masjid jointly for the people of Keirao Makting, Kiyamgei Muslim and Urup.
The ceremony was attended by Md Jalaruddin, Moulvi Nasir and Md Wahidur Rahman as presidium members.
