Training workshop on leather goods making begins

The month-long training workshop on 'Leather Goods Making' organised by North East Women Entrepreneurs Association (NEWEA) Manipur Chapter began on Sunday at Thoubal Leishangthem Wangmataba in Thoubal district.
The workshop was sponsored by Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), Noida, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
The inaugural function of the month long workshop was attended by Samuel Chakraborty, FDDI; NEWEA Manipur Chapter president, Kangabam Bijaya Chanu; Bir Tikendrajit University Director and RSS Sangathan North East co-incharge, L Suresh; social entrepreneur Oinam Goldflag; KVIC director, Ahamed Shah Shamsuddin Dewan and Hee Yai Construction MD, Thangjam Lokas as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Samuel Chakraborty stated that FDDI has been conducting 4 months to 1 year courses in the State to train the youths and address the issue of unemployment.
He also stressed on the importance of self-reliance and stated that the training workshop was conducted to train the youths in 'leather goods making' and provide them with the skill to generate income.
