Imphal, November 22 2010: A new office building of the Seismology Observatory of the Department of Meteorology Department under the ministry of Earth Science was inaugurated at Chingmeirong, Imphal.

AK Bhatnagar, ADGM, Central Meteorological Department graced the inaugural function which was presided by HG Pathak DGM of Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati.

Imphal West DC K Radhakumar, DIPR joint director S Balkrishna, Major Sandeep Kumar of 39 Assam Rifles, HP Shukla, a scientist of Meteorological Department attended as guests of honour.

It is the duty of the meteorological department to pass information about the weather and temperature of the region to the people well on time, said AK Bhatnagar who asserted that every section of people needed to know weather condition.

At the time of take off and landing of flight, shipping and of course in cultivation, the weather conditions are a must and they are doing in accordance with the prevailing weather conditions, he said.
