Buyer-seller meet cum exhibition begins

In a state like Manipur where its citizen are gifted with special skills in the field of handloom and handicraft, it is possible to improve the economy of the state by fostering work culture, said Minister of Industries and Commerce Govindas Konthoujam.
Speaking as Chief Guest of the inaugural function of buyer-seller meet cum exhibition organized by Manipur Apex Handloom Weavers and Handicrafts Artisans Cooperative Society at the auditorium of Manipur Film Development Corporation, the Minister said that the state is stricken with economic problems.
However, if we have work culture, handloom industry can improve the economic condition of the people and the state.
Handloom industry in the state is providing jobs and livelihood to thousands of Manipuris.

There are many families in the state, who lived on the income generated from selling homemade handloom products.
They also sent their children to schools and able to make them doctors, engineers, etc, he added.
Highlighting the market potential of handloom products, the Minister noted that there are around 66 handloom clusters in the state and our handloom products are of best quality.
Therefore, to develop the industry and generate more income we should export and exhibit our product across the country and even abroad.
O Nabakishore, Principal Secretary of Commerce and Industry, who presided over the function, said such exhibition cum buyer-seller meet is the best place to meet all the buyers and sellers from across the country.
If we able to ensure best quality handloom products to outsiders who are also participating in the buyer-seller meet cum exhibition, they would surely like them.
