Imphal, January 22 2021:
Left Coordination Committee, Manipur comprising CPI, CPI (M), Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and Forward Bloc are set to convene a protest meeting against the contentious three Farm Laws at Jiribam on January 23 at 3 pm .
The Farm Laws passed by the Parliament are (I) Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, (II) Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and (III) Farm Services Act, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act.
In a statement, the Left Coordination Committee, Manipur stated that that farmers from all across the country are protesting against these Laws as it will allegedly give an undue advantage to big corporates to take control of the entire agriculture sector.
These Laws are also making it more convenient for the big corporates to control the price of farm produce and as such the farmers protest over these Farm Acts contest is only intensifying each passing day, the committee added.
It is imperative for all the political parties, CSOs and individuals who oppose these Farm Laws to get together and extend support to the ongoing protest of the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee, the committee opined and appealed all to attend the proposed meeting.
