Awareness programme on Child Rights held at Chandel

Chandel, August 21 2019:
The Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights has organized a one-day awareness programme on "Child Rights focus on JJ Act 2015, POCSO Act 2012 and Prohibition of Child Marriage" at Pantha Community Hall, Chandel district yesterday, said a press release issued by Chairperson of the Commission.
The programme saw participation from about 100 villagers including the village chief, secretary, and other members.
Chairperson MCPCR, Sumatibala Ningthoujam, who attended the programme as chief guest, highlighted the need to thoroughly understand POCSO Act, 2012 and JJ Act, 2015 while adding that the Commission is working to make the general public aware of these Acts in all parts of Manipur.
Delivering the keynote speech, Programme Officer, MCPCR said that the mission and vision of MCPCR is to make Manipur a 'Child Friendly State'.
Guest of honour, Shankhin Jeeban, chief of Pantha village expressed gratitude to all the participants for their valuable time in the programme and said that rights of child must be protected.
Th Ngouba Singh, who attended as functional president in the programme stressed on the need to organize such programme extensively in different districts of the State.
As part of the programme, Advocate and Chairperson CWC Imphal West, Th Rajkishore Singh spoke on "Interpretation of POCSO Act, 2012" as resource person.
He also spoke on the role of CWCs in the protection of Child Rights.
Sapam Dilip Faculty Law Dept MU, spoke on the "Interpretation of JJ Act, 2015" as resource person.
He also spoke on the role of Juvenile Justice Board in implementing the Act.
