Imphal, May 21 2012:
Even though the state government has been taking up various policy under the flagship programmes of the Union Government to bring about development in far flung areas of both the hills and the plain district, the people of these areas have been deprived of all benefits as the staffs of the government offices located in these areas seldom come to the offices.
The Khengjoi Block Office, under Chandel district, which was inaugurated by Chief Minister O Ibobi on November 12, 2011 has turned into a residential place for the villagers of Khengjoi village as none of its staffs have turned up so far.
At present, the office has become a home to the family members of five families of Khengjoi village.
Talking to mediapersons in this regard, Thonkhothang, village Chief of Khengjoi, said that even though an office of Khengjoi Block has been set up in the village, the villagers have never got any benefits from its setting up.
No doubt, the villagers get the benefits of MGNREGS, but no benefit of other schemes of the government.
The Village chief further informed that the only government school in the village located at Joupi was repaired by the AR personnel after it was left neglected by the state government for quite long.
But there are no teachers in the school.
On the other hand, Tuijang Primary School has been turned into a private school.
