Blood donation, free health camps conducted

In an ongoing effort to promote a healthier community in Sagolband, a Free Health Camp was organised today by the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Sagolband at Keishamthong Kabui Community Hall under the.
supervision of Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo Singh.
According to a release issued by the office of the MLA, this special outreach initiative, held under the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), provided vital health services to around 110 individuals, where they received free screenings for cervical cancer, oral cancer, and breast cancer, along with free consultations, medications, and laboratory tests.
RK Imo Singh emphasized that this series of camps, which were also conducted last year, will continue in a phased manner, reaching other wards across Sagolband.
Additionally, the camp featured the "Stop Diarrhea Campaign", which included the distribution of free ORS packets and educational sessions on hand hygiene and other health practices.
Akhon Kabui Gangmei, president of Keishamthong Kabui Youth Union, appreciated this initiative by the MLA, acknowledging his dedication to the well-being of the community.
He also emphasized the importance of providing essential health services to those who cannot afford to visit hospitals or clinics, and praised the effort in helping people stay healthy.
Moreover, the Department of Community Medicine, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal organised a health camp on the Family Adoption Program under the National Medical Council (NMC) today.
The health camp was conducted in association with Yurembam Apunba Club at Yurembam Awang Leikai, Imphal West, said a release issued by RIMS.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bijaya Elangbam, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine, RIMS, Imphal informed that as per the Family Adoption Program, a medical student is allowed to adopt five families, for whom they will monitor the general health and advice family members on health-related issues and continue to follow-up under the guidance of faculty.
She asserted that the health camp which was conducted under the Family Adoption Programme was mutually beneficial to the public and the students.
Laishram Helenchandra Singh, general secretary, Yurembam Apunba Club expressed his appreciation to the Department of Community Medicine, RIMS and added that it was the third health camp organised by the Department in association with the Club.
During the health camp, doctors from different departments of Medicine, Surgery, Obst & Gynecology, Eye, ENT, Dental, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry and Paediatrics provided free health examinations along with medicines to about 250 persons.
Facilities for obtaining Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) cards were also provided to the participants.
The camp concluded with the planting of tree saplings by doctors and students of RIMS, Imphal.
Meanwhile, the Kangleipak News Tengbang Lup (KNTL) in collaboration with JNIMS Blood Bank conducted a blood donation camp at JNIMS, Imphal today.
Altogether, 25 persons donated their blood during the camp.
As part of the camp, an awareness session was also conducted wherein Dr Surjit of JNIMS Blood Bank shared his insights on various topics.
