Selling free SSA text books :Three officials suspended

Imphal, March 20 2012: Three officials of the Education (S) Department including a Deputy Inspector of School (In-charge) have been suspended with effect from today for their involvement in illegal sale of text books meant for free distribution under SSA in Chandel, Thoubal and Ukhrul districts.

According to a statement issued by Dr J Suresh Babu, Principal Secretary (Education-S) the three officials placed under suspension are NS Moheru Maring, primary teacher of Ayapurel Government Junior HS, Chandel district; Md Ziauddin, Science graduate teacher of Lamlong Khullen Government Junior HS and AS Solomon, i/c DI of School at the office of ZEO Ukhrul.

The three officials were found to be involved in illegal sale of text books meant for free distribution as per an enquiry conducted to confirm reports of sale of text books meant for free distribution by the Education (S) Department, it stated.

A Departmental Inquiry is pending against the three officials, it added.
