Cooperation needed for unity: Th Devendra

As in other parts of the country, the week-long Quami Ekta observance began in Manipur marked by pledges to work for national integration.
The inaugural function of the main observance was held in the conference hall the State Secretariat with Chief Minister in-charge and Minister of Revenue & Law Minister Th Devendra as Chief Guest.
On the occasion, the Chief Guest administered the oath of national integrity to the congregation.
Later, addressing the gathering, Minister Devendra observed that mutual love, understanding and co-operation are essential to bring about integrity and unity among the people.
Chief Secretary of the state DS Poonia was also present in the dais which was also attended by many top Civil and police officials.
Several programmes, with a specific theme for each of the seven days have been planned as part of the observance.
National integration, welfare of minorities, linguistic harmony, weaker sections, cultural unity, women's issues and conservation are the themes for the Week.
Activities related to a specific theme would be under focus on each day.
Quami Ekta Week is observed from November 19-25 every year with a view to fostering and re-inforcing the spirit of communal harmony, national integration and pride in our vibrant composite culture and nationhood.
