BJP calls for sustained stir against passage of MRVT & MW Bill 2015

Manipur BJP on Thursday called for a sustained agitation by all like-minded political parties in the State against the passage of the controversial Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill 2015 (MRVT & MW Bill 2015) in the Manipur Assembly on March 16 .
Describing the Bill as a Government policy aimed at smoothening influx of migrants and non-locals into Manipur during a press meet at party office here, BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesperson RK Shivachandra called on all political outfits in Manipur to unite together to stand up against the Bill.
He assured that BJP will join public and other pressure groups in ILP movement.
He said BJP was against the passage of MRVT & MW Bill 2015 that has completely failed to slot in the recommendation of the all political party committee.
Shivachandra said view and opinions of several prominent politicians, retired Justice and lawyers incorporated in the recommendation have been rejected by State Government.
"We cannot accept it" .
The BJP leader asked chairman of the All Political Party Committee, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam that what will be his answer to the matter.
Explaining on the looming intensified public movement against the unchecked influx of migrants into the State that has posed a serious threat to the indigenous people, Shivachandra stressed on the need for taking up the issue with the Central leaders at this crucial juncture.
"We need to lobby with the Central leaders.
The Congress Government led by Okram Ibobi Singh still can put pressure on the Centre to implement a law similar to ILP in Manipur," he suggested.
Shivachandra also underlined the need for a serious reflection on the current public anger and anticipated movement against non-locals.
