Poppy plantation destruction drive continues

Imphal, January 19 2022:
A joint team of Kamjong District Police, 6 MR, Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) and Forest Department, Kamjong carried out a poppy plantation destruction drive along the hill ranges at Lanchah village today.
Poppy plantations which spread over around 26 acres of land were destroyed during the said drive which was carried out led by Additional SP (L&O) under the aegis of Ravi Choudhary, SP, Kamjong district.
An FIR has been registered at Chassad Police station in this regard.
It is worth mentioning that the same team destroyed poppy plants grown over 53 acres of land along the Maokot hill ranges in Kamjong district.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Churachandpur District Police, NAB, Forest and 1st IRB also destroyed 15 acres of poppy cultivation in G Mongolian village hill ranges today.
However no labourers or cultivators were found at the spot but a regular FIR has been registered for further investigation.
