Imphal, December 18 2012:
NSCN (IM) Brigadier Absalom Raman was arrested from a Dibrugarh bound Rajdhani train reportedly by Indian security on Sunday evening.
According to reliable reports, the NSCN army top brass Absalom Raman was on his way to Dimapur after meeting the party's leadership Isak Swu and Th.Muivah at New Delhi.
He was officially taken into custody at about 5pm on Sunday as the train reached the Guwahati station and detained at police station in Pan Bazar for the night.
On Monday at about 8.30am, he was whisked away to Arunachal Pradesh under tight security led by Tirap district Superintendent of Police in connection with certain pending cases.
The senior NSCN cadre was travelling home from New Delhi with his nephew, a student at Delhi and returning for Christmas vacation.
On Sunday afternoon as the train reached Bongaigon, sources said, more than 10 security personnel armed with AK Rifles and dressed in civvies boarded the train and started questioning Raman's nephew.
The NSCN leader who was then taking a nap was awaken and put him under intense interrogation.
Later, the security officials took out a passport size photograph of Raman and asked him to confirm whether it was him.
Immediately after the Rajdhani train chugged off from Bongaigon station, sources said, the security personnel entered the AC compartment where the Naga army top brass was in and began to grill him.
A reliable report indicated that the Indian intelligence had tailed him from New Delhi and the arrest was well orchestrated.
In the last 15 years of Ceasefire between the Government of India and NSCN (IM), the arrest this time is the second incident involving top Naga army.
In 2009, Brig.
Ningkhan Anthony Shimray was arrested from Kathmandu airport in Nepal.
