State level seminar held

A one day State level seminar on the theme 'Cooperative can bring about second Green Revolution in the Country' was organised by the Manipur State Cooperative Union (MSCU) under the sponsorship of the National Cooperative Union of India at GM Hall, Imphal today.
Registrar of Cooperative Societies Manipur Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja was the chief guest of the inaugural session while president of MSCU L Tompishak was the functional president and Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies Ng Thaba was the guest of honour.
Conveying the keynote address at the inaugural session, Chief Executive Officer of MSCU, Y Ningthemba stressed on the importance of cooperative societies which could bring a second 'Green Revolution' in the country.
He added that various grass root level cooperative societies of the State should be developed by the State Government if the State is to develop further.
Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja spoke on the important roles played by the cooperative societies in various parts of the country.
Tompishak said, "We need to produce more to feed the ever increasing population.
Such a seminar is to educate the people on the importance of cooperative societies and to urge the State Government to provide necessary help and support to these societies in order bring development in the State." Besides providing the monthly salary to MSCU members, the grant-in-aid in order to organise seminars, training programme, workshops and other awareness programmes should be provided by the State Government, he added.
He further said that office infrastructure must be well- provided by the State Government as cooperative societies play an important role in various development processes.
During the technical session, Retd Additional RCS Th Manao and Retd Dy RCS L Ibomcha spoke on the various aspects of cooperative societies.
