DeMaS extends solidarity to Manipuris in Delhi

Acknowledging the selfless service of those who are at the frontline to fight against the dreaded COVID-19, Delhi Manipuri Society has donated a sum of Rs 10, 000 each to two Manipuri nurses who have contracted the virus as a token of solidarity.
The amounts have been transferred to the personal accounts of the two COVID-19 warriors, said a statement of DeMaS.
Besides the above activity, DeMaS has also prepared 80 packets of relief materials, containing rice, pulses, edible oil and sugar to be distributed to the needy Manipuris in the region, it said adding that the packets will be distributed by authorities of Manipur Bhavan, Delhi.
Saying that some members of society have also donated such daily essentials individually to Manipur Bhavan for handing out to underprivileged people, it continued that S Biswajit Meitei, president of DeMas have donated 75 kg of rice, 25 kg of pulses, 25 bottles of cooking oil, 20 kg of potato and 20 kg of onion for the purpose to the authorities in Manipur Bhavan.
"The society has pooled a special fund, from the donations of its members.
We also expressed our profound gratitude to the big-hearted people who have generously contributed for the cause initiated by Delhi Manipuri Society,"
it added.
