6th Singcha Wuyawon Festival concludes

The 6th edition of Shingcha Wuyawon festival concluded at the foothills of Mount Wuya Kachui of Shingcha village in Kamjong district today.
The three-day festival which kicked off on July 15 was organised under the banner "Embrace the Nature" by Shingcha Katamnao Long in collaboration with ZingshoTangkhul Katam nao Long.
On the occasion, journalist turned social worker Pamreiso Shimray conveyed the importance of setting long term festival policies in order to include the abode of Wuyawon flower into the global tourist spot.
Here it may be noted that Wuyawon is a specific variety of flowering plant from the ginger family grown on the hilly slopes of Mount Wuya Kachui.
During its blooming season in July, it covers the entire hillock of Mount Wuya Kachui.
Stating that the festival is aimed towards promotion of tourism, Pamreiso Shimray asserted that it should be a collaborative effort between all the neighbouring villages to popularize the festival.
Dwelling on the various prospects and aspects of tourism in Kamjong district, Pamreiso stressed on setting a unique selling point by identifying the potential of the district to attract visitors.
"Apart from the events, we should attract visitors through promoting agritourism, adventure and our historical heritage", he said.
Meanwhile AC Raising, executive director, Indigenous Foundation, lauded Shingcha village for their continuous effort in organising the Wuyawon festival and preserving the beauty of nature.
The hilly slopes of Mount Wuya Kachui clad with the pinkish Wuyawon flowers is a refreshing sight of beauty to all visitors.
During the festival, visitors were busy taking photographs and filming videos even as the weather was cold and foggy as they were trekking up the hill slope.
Renowned artists Thangmeiso Shinglai, Yungyung, Chikami and Achui Saro mesmerized the festival attendees with their performances.
