Forest workshop ends

A two-day state level interdepartmental workshop on convergence of National Afforestation Programme (NAP) and Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) concluded today at the Conference Hall of Forest Head Office, Sanjenthong.
The workshop organised by the State Forest Development Agency, Manipur under the sponsorship of RCNAEB, MOEF, NEHU Shillong has recommended to preserve forest area of Manipur with the aid of other development oriented schemes from different Government departments.
It also recommended that the forest area be preserved by encouraging tree saplings plantation under the DRDA and MGNREGS; and giving awareness and training to village and forest dwellers on the need for the preservation of forest.
The valedictory function of the two-day workshop was attended by DC Karnatak, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Cons & FDA); Dr SK Jha, Core Group Member, RCNAEB, MOEF, NEHU Shillong; K Angami, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Hq & Adm) and RK Srivastava, PME as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
