Villagers foil Police activities at Noney

Imphal, January 01 2017: A large number of women from Khumji Part 2 village, near Noney had foiled Manipur police commandos activities yesterday.

Report reaching here said that combined team of Manipur Police Commados from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal and Bishnupur district led by Dr..SIbomcha Singh, Addl.

SP (Ops) IW, today rushed at Khumji Part 2 Village at around 4.30 am to conduct search operation in the area along the Imphal -Jiribam road.

The site is the place where a person was killed and another three injured in millitants attack on Janaury 12 .

The police commado tried to conduct seacrh opeartion in the area after getting specific information about the presence of armed militants in the area.

The report further added that the police commando team cordon the area and strated conducting verification of the villagers in the wee hour.

Later after some time large number of women gatherd and resisted the police commdo from conducting the search operation.

Heated argument took place between the police commando and the women group.

Mentioned may be made that the United Naga Council, which had been ensuing prolong economic blocakde along the National Highways has been accusing the Manipur Police commandos of killing th civilian on Jan 12 .

However police said that the person was killed in lilitants� firing.
