Jiribam, January 16 2018: An open public discussion was held at PWD Guest House as a part of the 13th annual conference of All Jiribam Working Journalist Union (AJWJU) today.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam Peter Salam, AJWJU president Ng Bishwarjit, Jiribam District Additional SP, Ajit Kumar, Imphal Times Editor Ringku Khumukcham and AJWJU Advisor Sarat Thokchom were present in the discussion.

Speaking as a resource person on 'Canon of journalist', Ringku Khumukcham stressed on the need for maintaining a limit while exercising freedom of expression, specially by journalists and added that words or expressions which can hurt someone's image / reputation should be kept in check while reporting.

He further stated that the role of media is gigantic and immense, however, it is up to the media persons and the journalists to follow ethical means and measures when it comes to writing or reporting the news.

Meanwhile, AJWJU Advisor spoke on 'Press release and press conference' .

With an aim to laud and motivate the former and present journalists, gifts were presented to them as part of the function.
