UCM gifts water tank to Ichum Keirak

Imphal, January 16, 2011:
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) gifted a water tank to the villagers of Ichum Keiran Kom village in Senapati district as part of the golden jubilee celebration of the Ichum Keiran Baptist Church.
General Secretary, UCM W Second, HRD secretary Ng Dev, resource development secretary RK Manisana, IPR secretary Nilamani Kha Nganba, assistant IPR N Jiban, president NIPCO Khulabar Kom and Village authority chief of Ichum Keiran, L Darsothang attended the occasion.
Speaking in the occasion, W Second said that equal development of all the different communities of the state is very important.
Integrity can only be built on an equally developed society.
Development in valley only will not make Manipur a developed state.
UCM is striving to bring development in the various hill villages of the state.
He said that hill people of the state had their own religion before the own up Christianity.
Although they follow Christianity, they should preserve their traditional customs.
In a speech, Khubalar Kom stressed the need of unification among the various churches in the state.
Some churches are creating animosity among themselves in the state.
Unification is the key to development, he said.
Chairman of celebration committee also urged the people of both hill and valley to unite for a developed Manipur.
Paying tribute to the deceased persons of the village at the village cemetery marked the third day of the golden jubilee celebration which begins from January 14.
