Tamenglong CJM court to reopen next month: Arthur

With an aim to revive the defunct Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at Tamenglong, Th Ibohal Singh, Advocate General of Manipur along with official team today inspected the old court complex at Tamenglong district headquarters.
Apart from taking stock of the deplorable old CJM court complex, the team also inspected Mini Secretariat and Disaster Management office at DC Office complex for setting up a temporary court complex of CJM.
As the CJM court complex at Tamenglong has been lying defunct and left isolated, local people have encroached on every side.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao on the sidelines of the inpection, C Arthur W, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong said the CJM Tamenglong is likely to start functioning next month.
"For accommodation, we still have some problems as there is no government quarters for officials.
So, we are looking for some private houses which could be hired", he informed.
The DC also appealed to all the people in Tamenglong to give full cooperation in setting up a new complex of CJM court at the earliest.
Meanwhile, taking advantage of the visit of the inspection team, a joint memorandum was submitted to the Advocate general of Manipur demanding immediate reopening of the Court of CJM Tamenglong in the interest of the general public.

Panmei, Former MLA/Minister; Thomas Kamei, Chairman of Zeliangrong Baudi Manipur; KB Aduan, Convener Co-ordination Committee and Achunna Kamei, Coordinator of Zeliangrong Students' Union Tamenglong District, pointed out that the CJM Court at Tamenglong was functioning well from 1970s to 80s.However, it was down in 1990s for reason not known to the public.
Since then, the public could not get any legal relief till date.
Even for petty legal matter, the people of Tamenglong have been compelled to come down to Imphal wasting time, energy and money.
The joint memorandum also demanded to take up necessary action to recruit any local qualified legal hand for the court.
