Godowns raided, vehicles seized

Conducting raids at different godowns/warehouses and pulling up all those involved in hoarding goods, the Department of Taxes raided three godowns/warehouses namely Ram Nath Store, Thangal Keithel, Shree Shyam Steels, Thangal Keithel and Steel Trading Corporation, Mantripukhri and found goods being stored with no proper documents and records.
In a statement issued to the press today, the Department of Taxes said that the raids were conducted in connection with the illegal movement and hoarding of goods ahead of the Assembly election.
The Department of Taxes is monitoring the movement of goods carrying vehicles on all the National Highways regularly to verify the E-way bills and the documents.
Today flying squad team of the department checked 23 (twenty three) vehicles on NH-39. Out of the 23 (twenty three) vehicles intercepted for verification of e-way bill and documents, four (4) vehicles were found carrying goods illegally and without proper documents.
The vehicles were seized and detained at the department's headquarters at Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT), Khuman Lampak for physical verification and penalties have been imposed on the defaulting vehicles.
The department has been reinforced in the regular enforcement work by conducting regular raids of godowns/warehouses to check goods vehicles on the National Highways to verify the illegal movement of goods on the instruction of Election Commission of India (ECI) for the ensuing Assembly election, it said in a statement.
