Imphal Book Fair from December 15-24

Imphal, December 13, 2012:
The Imphal Book Fair-2012 would be held from December 15 - 24 at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound under the joint aegis of Raja Ram Mohan Roy Foundation, Kolkata and State Central Library, Manipur.
Addressing media persons in this connection at the office of State Central Library, Keishampat, S Tampakleima, Chief Librarian of Slate Central Library, informed that in all 116 stalls would be opened in the 9-day long book fair.
Out of the total 116 stalls, 102 have been already given away to firms which are going to participate in the fair.
Altogether 43 firms would be participating in the book fair this time.
Among them, 23 firms would be from outside the state while the remaining 20 would be local firms.
Furthermore, he informed that among the outside farms, 13 are from Delhi, 8 from Gawahati and 2 firms from Kolkata.
A minimum discount of 10 percent would be given to all the books sold in the fair.
But those book firms which can manage to more discount would be provided the freedom to carry out their business at the fair, the Chief Librarian disclosed and appealed to all concerned not to call bandh or blockade during the course of the fair.
It is said that the inaugural function of the fair would be graced by Education Minister M Okendro; Padmashree RK Jhalajit and Director of Arts and Culture, Dr K Sobita as Chief Guest, President and Guest of honour respectively.
