Foundation stone laid for tribal freedom fighters' museum at Makhel

TA&H Minister N Kayisii laid the foundation stone for Tribal Freedom Fighters' Museum was laid at Makhel village, 5 km away from Tadubi PS, Senapati district.
The program was graced by Minister Kayisii as the chief guest with PHED Minister Losii Dikho as the president, Addl Chief Secretary, TA&H Letkhogin Haokip, Directorate of Tribal Affairs & Hills C Arthur Worchuiyo and DC, Senapati Somorjit Salam as the guests of honour.
A Kapani, Chairman, ADC, Senapati, Vice Chairman, ADC, Senapati, ADC members, Chief Engineer, MTDC, Jt Secretary, Tribal Affairs & Hills, SDOs of Tadubi and Songsong, social leaders and student leaders of the region were also present in the ceremony.
The establishment of the museum, which aims to honour the war heroes for their sacrifices, has been taken up under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, GoI in association with the State Govt.Losii Dikho, while speaking at the function, expressed gratitude to Minister Kayisii for choosing his AC as the site of the museum in Makhel village under Mao Constituency.
Makhel village is an important historical village for which, he expressed belief that the Minister must have chosen the site so as to strengthen unification, integrity and to bring the people of the land together.
Bringing such a project in a remote place in the name of the all the tribals in the State is laudable.
Meanwhile, N Kayisii, maintained that Makhel village is one of the origin villages of the Nagas that later dispersed to different locations.
As such, the said village was chosen for the museum.
The Minister along with the then Principal Secretary reportedly went to the village to inspect and people of the village had willingly donated over 23.6 acres of land in the past, reports our correspondent.
Later, four community halls were inaugurated altogether at Makhan Khuman village by N Kayisii, Minister, TA&H.The community halls were constructed by the Department of TA&H at Makhan Khuman village, Makhan Lovadziingho village, Emefiithumai village and Chakumai Khridziiphi village.
Speaking on the occasion, C Arthur Worchuiyo, IAS asked the villagers to utilize the halls as thei own and with care.
N Kayisii said that the program was the first of its kind with the presence of various important dignitaries in the village.
