Chanura Microfin Manipur launches CE2M to ensure energy security

Chanura Microfin Manipur (CMM) Thursday launched CE2M (Clean Energy for clean Environment Mission) to ensure energy security for communities living in remote areas in Manipur.
N Harimati Devi, chairperson CMM, PK Khuman, founder secretary/chief executive officer CMM, Langhu Hringjangam, regional manager Centre for Microfinance & Livelihood (CML) Tata Trust, Kh Yaiskul Singh, retired General Manager Manipur Rural bank, P Yaima Singh, secretary Rural Agriculture & Industrial Development Centre (RAID), P Memmi Devi, founder member CMM, Ph Lokhendro Sharma, executive member CMM and Kamal Pathori, programme manager CML Tata Trust attended the launching ceremony organised at Manipur Press Club, Imphal as presidium members.
The CE2M supported by Tata Trust was launched to provide clean energy as an alternative to conventional use of electricity to poor section of the people and small industries, said CMM CEO PK Khuman.
The mission of the Centre for Microfinance & Livelihood (CML) will provide solar energy applications including home lighting and solar motors to poor and small industries saving huge electricity bills which most of the small business enterprises could not afford, said Khuman.
"The mission will ensure energy security and enhance productivity," said Khuman and informed that the mission is targeting to cover about 1,000 beneficiaries in the year 2019-20.Under the mission, Chanura Microfin Manipur will also promote local solar energy based entrepreneurs.
These entrepreneurs who manufacture solar appliances will be selected through quality control tests and certification by SELCO Foundation, Khuman said.
While promoting the growth of the local entrepreneurs, the mission will ensure comfort, profit and productivity to poor and small business enterprises/small industries, added Khuman.
