Imphal, January 13 2019:
All India State Federation (AISF) Manipur State Council is submitting a memorandum to President Ramnath Kovind condemning the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 which Lok Sabha passed recently.
AISF will submit the memorandum on January 16.It is ready to launch intense agitation if it does not receive positive response at the earliest, said AISF Manipur State Council State secretary Kh Rameshor during a press meet held at Irawat Bhavan today.
AISF strongly condemns the passing of the contentious Bill in the Lok Sabha and the Bill should not be introduced in the Rajya Sabha in the interest of the people, he said.
The Bill if introduced in Rajya Sabha will create havoc in North-East.
The CAB 2016 is a threat to the indigenous people of the North-East, he said.
Saying that mere assurance of the BJP leaders will not protect the NE from the Bill, he alleged that there might be some hidden agenda of the BJP leaders to bring in foreigners into the region considering the fact that the North-East States are easily accessible form the neighbouring countries.
Urging the State Govt to make its stand clear and act according to the wants and aspiration of the people, he cautioned that AISF is all set to launch stern agitation from January 18.It may be mentioned that CM of Mizoram had openly criticised the Bill and three AGP Ministers of Assam have resigned over the Bill.
