17th SARAS Regional Fair concludes

The 17th Regional SARAS Fair organized by State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM), Department of RD&PR, Government of Manipur concluded today at Sanyi Dahrii Memorial Sports Complex, Khabung Karong Ground, Senapati.
The Sale of Articles of Rural Artisans (SARAS) Mela 2024 was kicked off on November 5.The valedictory ceremony was graced by Mamoni Doley, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati as the chief guest and Reikimdar Khaling, MCS, Sub-Divisional Officer, Paomata and Willong as the guest of honor.
Addressing the gathering, Senapati DC, Mamoni Doley, IAS emphasized the role of women in bringing change in terms of economic empowerment.
She applauded to the staff of MSRLM for their tireless efforts in making the fair a grand success.
She also urged the SHGs participating in the fair from various districts and villages to submit their feedback and welcomed the SHGs to her office in case of any issues.
Delivering the guest of honor speech, the SDO of Paomata & Willong, Reikimdar Khaling, MCS said that she is encouraged to see SHG women showcasing their handicraft, handloom, exotic fruits and vegetables.
She also said that this kind of event boost one's self-confidence and economic condition and helps exercise financial discipline along with generating income.
She appealed the SHG women to participate in the next SARAS Fair.
PP Ronald, MCS, Project Director, DRDA, Senapati in his speech congratulated all the SHGs participating in the 17th Regional SARAS Fair and the organizer for their indomitable spirit.
He also suggested various means and ways to generate income.
As part of the programme, prizes and certificates were distributed to outstanding SHG stalls in four categories, namely, Handicraft - Tacham SHG; Handloom - Totsii SHG, Agriculture Products - Bophe SHG and Food Stall - Somazhi SHG.
Additionally, certificates were handed over to all the SHGs participating in the 17th SARAS Fair.
Seventy Self-Help Groups (SHG's) from Tengnoupal, Chandel, Tamenglong, Noney, Imphal West, Ukhrul, Kangpokpi and Senapati participated in the fair held in Senapati.
It may be mentioned that the main objective of the SARAS Fair is to provide a platform for SHGs of rural areas promoted by MSRLM across the State to showcase and sell their products.
