Imphal, October 12 2024: A book titled, "Sophocles King Oedipus" translated into Manipuri by Laikhuram Rameshwar was released today during a function held at DIPR Hall in Keishampat Netyaipat Chuthek, Imphal.

The book release function organised by Ashangba Communication Imphal was attended by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad president, Longjam Joychandra Singh; Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, Manipuri Advisory Board convenor, Prof Rajen Toijamba and Kangjam Radhakumar as presidium members.

Giving a brief introduction of the book, Laikhuram Rameshwar said that "Sophocles King Oedipus" is one of the European classics and is included in the syllabus of Manipur University English honours.

Several teachers, scholars and students were also present at the event.
