Green Ambassador leads tree plantation drive

Nine year old Green Manipur Mission Ambassador, Elangbam Valentina Devi, has appealed all to look after tree saplings after they are planted, to ensure that they grow and mature properly.
Speaking on the sidelines of a tree plantation programme which was jointly organized by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Imphal Jilla, and Seva Bharati, Khwai Brahmapur, Nagamapal at Kangla today, the Class V student of Amutombi Divine Life English School, Wabagai, noted that there is no meaning in planting trees if the people fail to provide necessary care to ensure the plants grow and earnestly appealed all those who plant tree saplings not to forget looking after the tree saplings until they have matured.
She also lauded RSS and Seva Bharati volunteers for inviting her to the tree plantation programme.
Patriots Day Observation Committee, Seva Baharati, Imphal S Nongpoknganba Meitei conveyed that the tree plantation programme was organized as a part of the social work conducted by RSS and Seva Bharati in the State.
He went on to inform that the main objective of organizing the programme is to spread the message of the need to save the earth.
Valentina, who was chosen as the Brand Ambassador for a term of one year after a video of her crying for two trees which were fell for a road-widening project went viral, led the tree plantation inside Kangla.
The event was also organised prior to the Patriots Day observation which will be held at Lamyanba Shanglen tomorrow.
