PHE Minister visits water source at Senapati DHQ

Senapati, December 11 2020:
Expressing concerns over extensive pollution in Senapati river, which is also the main source of water in the district headquarter town areas, PHE Minister Losii Dikho has called for maintaining proper sanitation and a clean Senapati river.
The Minister who is now travelling personally to identify water sources and monitor water projects in Manipur visited Senapati district headquarters yesterday.
Accompanied by village elders, the Minister informed that the Viewland area with some 400 households will be provided with pipes to supply water to the said areas.
It will be additional to the NESIDS Rs 33 crore Karong-Senapati mega project.
It is to make sure that every household is provided drinking water and to achieve the target by 2022, he added.
He also visited Senapati river which has been polluted by the rampant dumping of garbage, toilet outlets, riverside piggery, inflow of public drains and poor awareness by the people.
PHE Minister Losii Dikho further appealed to the people to clean such water bodies to curb water scarcity issues during the lean seasons which are approaching soon.
