Training / input distribution programme held

A training cum Input distribution programme on "Quality Seed Production on Rabi Pulses & Oilseed" was conducted today at ICAR- Farmers Hostel Conference Hall.

The programme was organised by ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill Region (ICAR RC NEH), Manipur Centre in collaboration with its five KVKs, ICAR-KVK Imphal West, Tamenglong, Chandel, Ukhrul and Churachandpur under AICRP on Seed (Crops) Project, said a release issued by ICAR.
It was attended by Dr Irengbam Meghachandra Singh, former Nodal Officer, AICRP on Seed & retired Principal Scientist, ICAR RC NEHR Manipur Centre; Dr Ramgopal Laha, HoRC, ICAR RC NEHR Manipur and Dr Konsam Sarika, Scientist, Nodal Officer.

During the programme, seeds of Rabi crops such as garden pea, lentil, broadbean and mustard were distributed to 35 farmers of valley districts of Manipur.
Dr Irengbam Meghachandra highlighted the importance of quality seed production and existence of a State Seed Certifying Agency so as to make Manipur self-sufficient in quality seed production and timely availing of crop seeds to the formers.
Dr Ramgopal Laha urged the farmers to put their utmost efforts to make the seed production programme a grand success.
Dr Konsam Sarika elaborated on the importance of quality seeds.
Technical sessions on package and practices of Rabi field crops were conducted by subject experts from KVKs, followed by a Farmer-Scientist's Interaction.
