CEO gears up for state assembly election

As the state assembly election is round the corner, Manipur chief electoral officer (CEO) Rajesh Agarwal has informed that his office is gearing up for conducting assembly election in the early parts of 2022 .
In a video recording released Saturday, Rajesh Agarwal said that election is vital for maintaining a strong democracy and Manipur is leading in trying to conduct election in a free and fair manner.
Conveying that the CEO office is fully prepared to conduct the election, Rajesh said that District Election officer, AROs, BLO, government departments and state nodal officers are working day and night to conduct election freely and fairly.
Informing that publicity SVEEP campaign has already been launched in the state, he said that during the campaign citizens will be made aware about the election and the roles of ECI so as to make them participate in the election process with no trouble.
An adult can register themselves as a voter through online.
Subsequently, the voter can access every detail about the election.
Using of technology in election will make the election process transparent and also make the voters understand the value of their votes.
SVEEP campaign will give trust to the voters and make them register individually as a part of summary revision from November 1.The initiatives will surely increase voter turnout on the day of election, he added.
The CEO further said that the electoral process is a cooperative exercise wherein every arm of the government comes together and helps each other to conduct free and fair elections.
Recalling that 86 per cent of the total voters turned out in the previous state assembly election, the CEO urged all to increase the turn out in the next election and make Manipur a better democratic state.
