Ukhrul Police open separate QC for security personnel

Ukhrul, August 11 2020: As a precautionary measure, Ukhrul Police yesterday opened a separate quarantine centre for security personnel at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School (UHSS) Wino bazar with a capacity to accommodate at least 50.According to Additional SP of Ukhrul, Ringthing Hongchui with the increasing cases of COVID-19 in Manipur, Ukhrul Police felt it necessary to open a separate quarantine centre for security personnel returning from other districts before they rejoin duty.

They will be kept in isolation and would be tested for COVID-19 before resuming duty, he said.

The officer also informed that both policemen and Manipur Rifles personnel will undergo quarantine at the centre until they recieve their COVID-19 test result.

This is to prevent direct contact with other security personnel stationed in Ukhrul, and avoid contact with public.

According to Ukhrul Police, 11 persons who came from Imphal and Chandel are housed in the UHSS quarantine centre.

Swab samples of the security personnel were collected today for COVID-19 test.
