NSCN (IM) town commander, five UGs nabbed

Imphal, June 11 2011: The town commander of NSCN (IM) Ukhrul area has been apprehended by troops of 17 AR along with another cadre of the outfit in the morning today from a place at Ukhrul district HQ, a report received here said.

The commander was identified as Leishang Tangkhul (50) of Ukhrul town.

However, the report could not confirm the identity of the cadre who was nabbed with the commander.

Police said, the two are yet to be handed over to them.

Meanwhile, Imphal East police commandos arrested a PREPAK activist identified as Leihaorangbam Robinchandra (35) of Khurai Puthiba Leikai.

He was arrested from Khurai Lamlong bazar yesterday around 11 am.

Police charged him of involving in harbouring PREPAK activists and procuring arms and ammunition for the outfit.

Troops of 18 Sikh Regiment of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) in a joint operation with Nambol police which included women police apprehended two KCP (MTF) activists today from Leimapokpam Awang Leikai.

They were identified as L Anita Devi (28) wife of L Brojen Singh of Leimapokpam Awang Leikai and Th Ibongo Singh (22) son of Th Jadu Mani Singh of Leimapokpam Awang Leikai.

Both have been handed over to Nambol PS, a statement of the IGAR(S) said.
