Another Blind School student allegedly raped in school premises

Imphal, November 10 2014:
Even though the uproar against the rape of a girl student by the Chowkidar of Ideal Blind School on August 13 last is yet to be toned down, another girl student of the school was reportedly raped inside its campus on November 1 last.
According to reliable sources, the alleged culprit involved in the crime is a juvenile of 13 years, whose mother works in the school.
Talking to this Daily, principal of the school Yengkhom Premlata said that an FIR was lodged against the case at Lamphel police station in time and a report was also submitted to Social Welfare department.
The principal refused to comment on whether the victim was actually raped.
According to another source, the Lamphel police station has initiated the investigation as per FIR number 261 (11) 2014, LPS-PS.
The alleged culprit has been interrogated under section 4/8 POCSO Act and kept under detention at observation home at Takyelpat.
Meanwhile, the Child welfare Committee, Imphal West has taken up the rape case following a report filed by Investigating Officer of Lamphel Police station.
The victim was brought to the Committee by woman police Sub-Inspector Aruna Laishram.
The parents of the victim who accompanied the girl before the Committee endorsed the desire of the girl to stay in the Hostel as her examination is approaching.
The Committee, thereafter, directed to make arrangement for necessary counseling and enquiry to the Counsellor and the Social worker of DCPW, Imphal west.
The IO of the case was also instructed to ensure safety of the victim during the investigation process.
