Imphal, September 10 2024: The State Government has ordered sus-pension/curbing of internet and mobile data services including lease lines, VSATs, broadbands and VPN services in the whole State for five days with effect from 3 pm of September 10 till 3 pm of September 15 .

The ban will be in force in only the districts of Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching an Bishnupur.

The hill areas, notably Churachandpur and Kangpokpi are exempted from the ban.

An earlier order on the same day had stated that the net ban would cover the whole of Manipur.

An order issued to this effect by N Ashok Kumar Commissioner (Home) said the ban has been necessitated by the need to stop disinformation via social media.
