Imphal, September 10 2021: As observed all over the world, World Suicide Prevention Day was observed today at PHC Andro, organised by District Mental Health Programme, Imphal East under the aegis of District Health Society, Imphal East and National Health Mission, Manipur.

Speaking at the event, Dr Meesha Haorongbam, DNO Mental Health, Imphal East spoke on this year's theme of "Creating Hope Through Action" and emphasized on the role played by various stakeholders in preventing suicide.

Aheibam Gopendro, Psychiatric Social Worker elaborated on various welfare schemes that can be availed by people with mental illness while Sagolshem Samananda, Psychiatric Social Worker spoke about psycho-social effects of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Thoudam Ranjana, Psychiatric Nurse, highlighted the various activities undertaken by DMHP, I/E along with the state and district mental helpline numbers.

Dr Ramananada, MO PHC Andro also spoke about the greater mental health training to CHOs and ASHAs.

The event was attended by Community Health Officers, accredited social health activists and members of the general public with strict maintenance of SOP.
