Senapati, August 10 2020:
The Chakumai/Khridziiphi Youth and Students' Organization (CKYSO) has vehemently condemned the inhumane treatment meted out to (L) A Mayili, former president and tribunal general, Mao Students' Union (MSU) by the medical fraternity of Sub-District Hospital, Mao, when he was first brought to the hospital on that fateful day.
Mention may be made that on August 6, the former student leader succumbed to his injuries while on the way to Imphal after he met with a tragic accident with a slashed wrist injury.
In a press release issued from the information and publicity cell of the student body, it stated that the hospital authority reportedly refused immediate medical treatment to the student leader with the notion that he was from another block (Tadubi block) which the student body labelled as "a shameful and unprofessional act" .
Later, he was reportedly referred to Imphal because of the severity of the injury and lack of medical facilities in the area but was also out rightly refused ambulance service to ferry him, although the ambulance was parked within the hospital complex.
Lack of proper infrastructure and medical experts at the Sub-District Hospital, Mao are stated to be glaring examples of the step-motherly treatment meted out to the hill tribals by the State Government, the student body alleged.
No sane person in a right state of mind would have refused treatment to any patient in such situation and circumstance and should be condemned by every right thinking citizen, the statement added.
